Week Two: Placeholder Art

<- Back Home

Progress vs Original Plan:

So clearly my original plan was way to ambitious on the content side. The carryover from last week only took two days, but even accounting for that I was never going to hit the original goal.

Overworld

The overworld (map) is functional, but the art is mainly placeholder. Here's a screenshot of the initial map view, before the party starts out on their quest. You can also see the party inventory at the bottom, with the individual character inventories off to the side.

Cards!!!

Was aiming for getting 100 cards done this week, but that was way too high a goal. Got to 57, (27 with art). I'm really happy with how the art is turning out, and it looks really good in game with the parallax effects. Favorite arts at the moment are Scratch, Maul, and probably Zoomies.

Next Week

The overall goal is to have a fully playable Act-1 demo by the end of January (2 weeks remain), so I'm going to reprioritize some optional features till after then. So the list of what needs to be done is roughly:

Art for all this is definitely secondary to these, since the game is still playable even with missing art assets, but I don't want to build up too big of an art backlog.

For specifically next week, I'm going to prioritize events, enemies, and equips, and save the two new characters for the week after.
